S. ASHER GELMAN (Artistic Director) is a director, choreographer, playwright, and producer. He serves as the Artistic Director of Midnight Theatricals, through which he produced and directed his first original play, Afterglow, which opened in Summer 2017, ran for 14 months Off-Broadway, and continues to enjoy productions worldwide. In 2022, he directed a critically acclaimed production of Afterglow in Los Angeles, which was extended multiple times due to popular demand. In 2024, he directed and choreographed an acclaimed, sold-out production of the play in London.

That same year, Asher wrote and directed Scarlett Dreams to wide acclaim, enjoying a successful run Off-Broadway. Previously, in 2019, he produced the Off-Broadway productions of the cult hit musical We Are The Tigers and his second play, safeword. He directed and choreographed two dance films, The Greatest City in the World and in memoriam, the latter being a 30-minute, site-specific solo shot in a single, continuous take.

Originally from Chevy Chase, MD, Asher earned his Bachelor's degree in Dance and Theater from Bard College and his Master of Fine Arts in Dance from The George Washington University. He is a cofounder of The Stage, Tel Aviv's premier English-language performing arts organization, where he served as its first Artistic Director from 2013 to 2016. Asher also served on the Advisory Board of the Fisher Center at Bard from 2016 to 2022. He lives in New York City with his husband Mati, his partner Stefano, and their two cats, Grogu and Rambi.

 

STEFANO MILICI (Executive Director) has been serving as the Executive Director of Midnight Theatricals since 2022, where he has overseen the company's strategic growth and expansion of its theatrical portfolio and its artistic partnerships. Under his leadership, he developed and produced the critically acclaimed Scarlett Dreams Off-Broadway in 2024, and spearheaded the sold-out London production of Afterglow earlier that year. Prior to joining Midnight Theatricals, he held various tech leadership positions for fashion brands Zegna, Giorgio Armani & J.Crew. He lives in New York City with his partner, Asher.

 

ROBBIE SIMPSON (Director of Creative Development) is a Manhattan-based director, producer, and actor whose work spans New York City, London, Shanghai, Los Angeles, Chicago, and over 75 cities across North America. For Midnight, Robbie originated the role of Alex in Afterglow Off-Broadway and served as Associate Director for the London and Los Angeles productions of Afterglow, as well as Scarlet Dreams at the Greenwich House Theater. Additional directing credits include A Charlie Brown Christmas at The Palladium Theater in Times Square, recognized by The New York Times as a top holiday event, with performances on NBC and FOX5, leading to three subsequent North American National Tours. His previous positions include Interim Artistic Director of Metropolis Performing Arts Center in Chicago, Associate Director for the Broadway National Tours of Chicago and A Christmas Story, and Associate Artistic Director of the Cape Playhouse in Dennis, Massachusetts. As an actor, Robbie has appeared on General Hospital (ABC, recurring), The Path (Hulu), and Dietland (AMC), among others. Off-Broadway credits include work with La MaMa, The Mint Theater, The Gingold Theatrical Group, and The Juilliard School, as well as leading roles at regional theaters nationwide. He is currently the Director of Musical Theater at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting and an adjunct professor at NYU. Robbie holds an MFA from the University of San Diego and a BFA from Syracuse University.
